A demonstration of Padzilla Too Interactive Case – featuring gesture control of iOS on an iPad bundled together with a Microsoft Kinect device. This is the largest interactive reproduction of an iPad in the world spanning 24 feet wide and 12 feet tall. On Thursday, December 22nd, Christmas came early for the Zappos.com team in Las Vegas, NV. A humongous crate appeared at Zappos.com Shipping & Receiving.

Padzilla had arrived.

The guys at Santa’s favorite workshop wanted to ensure a great holiday for our favorite online shoe and apparel store. We delivered.

Our team traveled to the desert to install Padzilla as a coffee table for their company lounge. During installation, curious stares and questions were rampant. “What is it? This thing you guys are doing?”

The Zappos team brought in the Padzilla as a permanent fixture to their Vegas headquarters for both business and pleasure. The Padzilla itself functions just like an iPad, and can be loaded with all the same applications only used on a larger scale.

When the plastic wrapping finally came off, and the power turned on, the 20 or so Zapponians waiting anxiously cheered, hollered and hooted. Quite a sight for our team and an affirmation of our efforts.

And what was the first application they used? Angry Birds.

Crunchy Logistics was approached to concept a new way of bowling that involved interactivity. We took our tracking technologies on the road and combined it with 3D projection mapping. The results were stunning.

By combining our tracking software and 3D mapping technologies, Crunchy was able to project effects onto a series of bowling lanes and track the balls as they were bowled down the isle to strike the pins. The tracking technology was calibrated to track the balls, and then add an animated trail to each ball. We used a multitude of effects from flaming fireballs to fairy dust, to growing flowers.

We not only successfully showcased the capabilities of this technology, but also proved that the possibilities are endless. We can turn the entire bowling alley into an aquarium, space, mountainous regions and change the tracking effects to be comets, or darting fish.

In terms of engagement, the façade can be changed as the physical game play changes. For example, if the bowler bowls a strike, a series of explosive effects can be created to accentuate the feeling of winning by interfacing with the scoring system. Or, a “wah wah wah” scene change can be used when the ball goes in the gutter.

This interactive bowling experience is the first REAL ball tracking interactive bowling system. It differs from other systems that are only motion sensor-triggered utilizing the same animations over and over that do not follow the individual ball. This system can be customized remotely for any bowling or family fun center and can be used to personalize experiences for buy-outs for parties/events/celebrations/advertisements which generates recurring revenue for the local venue. iBowling is also a great training tool for displaying ball trajectory and highlighting paths on where the ball went, will go, or best predicted path for success. This technology is customized for each individual venue and can be created to do special mini games or show sporting events on a large scale across all lanes and more.

The interactivity of Padzilla is exactly like an iPad. For that reason, the interface is incredibly intuitive and there is little to no training required. Swipe, Pinch, Zoom…All the functionality of an iPad, but with more possibilities. Giving presentations using a standard slide show, or sliding between images, has a natural feel. When presenting a mobile application to a group of people, the social interaction enables one to really retain the information more easily. We use this table in our office, and swear by the increase in productivity. Imagine standing around a table and having the ability to change designs or schematics on the fly. We do a lot of 3D production and design work. The conference table allows us to change assets quickly, and gives much more flexibility than posting stills on a wall. As a whiteboard, we can annotate designs and send them back to the designer for quick changes. No Paper!

3D Without Glasses is a burgeoning hotbed of innovation at the moment. This technology takes digital signage to a whole new level. Normal brand retention for digital signage is about 5-7 seconds and then the viewer moves on. With 3D, it can be up to 25-35 seconds. We added motion detection technology, making the possibilities endless. Imagine walking through a Virtual Property where you can actually move through rooms, opening doors, lifting up objects…and all in 3D.

The LED panels are brilliant as a backdrop for a DJ, Artistic Installation, or any venue. The software allows you to import any motion video and the results are stunning. We have weather resistant versions of these that are capable of wrapping around any object, both large and small.

As a first-time exhibitor at IAAPA 2011, Crunchy Logistics was challenged to showcase the best of our products for attendees and vendors at the largest Amusement Parks & Attractions tradeshow in the world.  We exceeded the challenge.

Our booth was laid out carefully to entice the senses and keep the attendees engaged as they were guided through our experience.

We partnered with Martin Pro US to brandish some of their latest LED product lines, including a prototype Black Light LED projector that had never been seen before. Our friends at Martin showed off their LED Panel backdrop, which was displayed, front and center, and the latest line in LED projectors were placed in front of Padzilla.

The Martin Pro LEDs backdrop was enthralling, and definitely brought a large segment of the attendees to our booth. Our Martin representatives were knowledgeable, friendly, and always helpful, even when it was dealing with our products specifically. Big shout out! Thanks guys.

Our booth featured Martin Pro US’s wares, alongside a 3D Without Glasses HDTV. We demonstrated our Padzilla 65” giant iPad and our multi-touch conference table.

The 3D Without Glasses HDTV was a big draw. At one end of the booth, it captured attendees like deer in headlights, and left them trying to figure out what they were looking at. As we described the technology, and how you would use it in place of digital signage or virtual property tours, they were astounded by the possibilities.

It always amazes us how ingenious people can be. Someone can look at our technology, and child-like, they will immediately find a use for it other that what we were intending.

With the multi-touch conference table, we had designers, architects, and modelers wanting to purchase it on the spot. Unfortunately, it’s the one we use at the office on a daily basis. But don’t worry, we’ll get you your custom version shortly.

Last but not least, the mighty Padzilla. At first, some attendees thought it was just a huge touchscreen. But, when you slide out the iPad from the side drawer, or start shuffling through the familiar App Store…or play Angry Birds to scale. Then, it sets in. You’re actually looking at something familiar, except it’s exactly what you wanted. A huge iPad that works exactly like a ‘small’ iPad.

After the intensity of IAAPA 2011, we look back on the success of bringing our passion to the public. We plugged it in and changed the world. Thanks to all of you!

Florida Hospital created a mobile application to demonstrate at the National Council for Presidents Event 2011. To reveal their Interactive iOS Magazine to 150 executives from major technology companies around the world, Florida Hospital really wanted to knock their socks off. No expense was spared, from a first-class fireworks show, to well…

When they heard about our giant iPad, Padzilla, they thought it would be a match made in heaven. Florida Hospital approached us for this event, and the timing was tight because it coincided with our exposition at IAAPA. Time constraints aside, we wanted to make it the best experience for Florida Hospital and we knew we could do it.

With 50 iPads in tow (just in case you didn’t have yours on you), we came in there like gangbusters. The iPads were preloaded with their new iPad ‘zine app, as was Padzilla. Using the iPad’s provided by Crunchy, the attendees were able to participate during the demonstration of the app on Padzilla. On the hospital’s veranda, executives were able to interact with the application on the large-scale version using Padzilla. They discussed the merits and benefits of the application, watched video, and physically slid images with their hands, engaging the crowd with something fresh.

It was a celebration of sorts. Not just because we were in Celebration, Florida, but also because it was a kick-off of a new communication tool and a new way of interacting in general. We helped Florida Hospital reach out to their audience by Plugging In; Changing the World. It was magical.
